Prince Daniel visited the Volvo Group

During a day packed full of activities, Prince Daniel of Sweden met with employees at the Tuve plant and test drove Volvo products – both on land and at sea.

Prince Daniel is married to Crown princess Victoria. A former entrepreneur, his official duties now include being an ambassador for Swedish industry on the international arena.

The visit on April 12 began at Volvo Demo Center in Gothenburg where he was given a presentation of the Volvo Group by CEO and President Olof Persson. Then it was off to the test track where he got behind the wheel of both Volvo trucks and Volvo CE machines.

After lunch Prince Daniel got a guided tour of the Tuve plant led by Plant Director Johan Jinhage and Mikael Bratt, EVP Group Trucks Operations. Prince Daniel took the opportunity to ask questions about the production system and quality control.

At the Volvo Penta Test Center in scenic Krossholmen, Prince Daniel boarded a Windy cruiser, equipped with the Volvo Penta IPS system. Lars Ljungqvist, SVP Planning, Product Development & Purchasing, asked the prince to take the helm, or in this case the joystick, and head out into the archipelago. The day ended with a boat trip at 40 knots which left the Prince impressed by the easy handling made possible by the IPS system.
